Why What You Do at Home Matters as Much as What Happens on the Table

If you've ever had a myofascial release session, you know the feeling afterward. More space. Softer shoulders. A deeper breath than you've had in a while. And if you're like most people, you've also noticed that feeling can slowly fade as the time goes by.

That isn't a sign that the work didn't help. It's a sign that your body is doing what bodies do. We sit, drive, carry, scroll, and brace against stress, and our fascia responds to all of it.

So what is fascia, anyway?

Fascia is the connective tissue that wraps around and through everything in your body: your muscles, bones, organs, and nerves. Think of it as one continuous web from head to toe. When it's healthy and hydrated, it glides and adapts. When it tightens or gets restricted, you might feel it as stiffness, achiness, limited movement, or tension that seems to move around.

Whether you understand it, believe in it, or can feel it yet, fascia shapes how your body moves and feels every single day.

Why home practice changes everything

For the last few years I've been working one on one with people on their fascia, and one thing has become really clear to me. The clients who make the most progress are the ones who keep releasing between sessions.

When you understand what you're feeling, where you're feeling it, and have the experience of releasing it with your own two hands, progress happens so much faster. And the ease you feel lasts longer.

It doesn't take much. A therapy ball, a wall or the floor, and a few quiet minutes of paying attention. You can do it at home, at your desk, even in the car before you walk into a stressful meeting.

A simple place to start

Try this tonight. Place a small ball (tennis ball or something softer ideally) under one shoulder while you're laying. Let your back rest on it and slowly shift your weight until you find a spot that feels tender or interesting. Stay there. Breathe. Wait for the tissue to soften rather than pushing through it. After a couple of minutes, sit up and notice the difference between your two shoulders.

That's the heart of it: slow, gentle, and listening to your body instead of forcing it.

Want guidance with this?

That's exactly why I created The Body Wisdom Method. It's a way for me to walk you through releasing at home, keep you making progress, and bring together a community of women who want to feel better in their bodies. It asks for about 10 minutes a day.

Here's what's included: a monthly live guided session with me, a monthly live Q&A, a therapy ball kit mailed to your door, and a private online community to share practices, ask questions, and celebrate wins.

We begin October 6th. Founding members join for $499 instead of the regular $699. Join by September 29th if you'd like your ball kit to arrive before we start. Enrollment closes October 5th.
